Back in September, a FTBM foster was contacted by a friend. She had found a kitten on the side of the road that really needed help. The kitten seemed to have severe eye infections and was having trouble walking and even supporting herself to sit upright. Foster Laura immediately went to help and brought the little one home. The next day little Luci was seen by a vet. Luci had fleas, mites, was malnourished, and probably blind in both eyes. A visit to Dr. Corbett, an eye specialist at Upstate, confirmed that Luci was blind and would need both eyes removed. In the two months since she was rescued and has been with Free to Be Me, Luci has received meds for her eyes and ears and was given all the TLC that her foster mom could give. She has been vaccinated, tested twice (negative), spayed microchipped and had a bilateral enucleation. Little Luci has thrived under Laura's care. She is running, playing with all kinds of toys (and hoarding them), playing with the other cats, climbing things, and getting into all kinds of mischief. She is her foster mom's shadow, lovebug, and study buddy. This past week Luci was seen by her surgeon and cleared for adoption. Anyone who is interested in adopting Luci will need to understand that there will be an application, meet and greet, home visit, and excellent vet references. Luci will need another friendly, mellow cat in her new home. No dogs or small children. The house or apartment should preferably be on one floor. email freetobemecats@gmail.com for more information |
